What is the Zuba Central from Mitsubishi ?

Rethink everything you know about whole-home, year-round comfort.

Designed for Canada's environment, Zuba-Central replaces traditional means of heating and cooling with one quiet, compact, highly efficient, ducted system that can save space and significant annual energy costs. Thanks to features like H2i technology, Zuba-Central is capable of heating efficiently down to -30°C and beyond. So put some serious thought into your home, and you’ll think...Zuba-Central.

Outstanding Performance

performance_img

Zuba-Central provides unmatched cooling and heating capabilities, keeping your entire home cool and consistent in the blaze of summer, and toasty and comfortable during the coldest of winter days. It’s easy to see why the Zuba-Central heat pump system is superior to other traditional heating and cooling systems. What you should also know is that it outperforms many competing heat pump systems as well. Compared to other means of heating, heat pumps are very efficient, but only as long as the outside temperatures stay above 0ºC. From this point and below, a supplemental heating system has to be used. Our Zuba-Central system is equipped with Mitsubishi Electric’s exclusive Hyper-Heat Inverter (H2i) technology, which gives you the same performance benefits all the way down to -30°C and below!

Highly Efficient -30°C Operation and Beyond

operation_img

You can take comfort in knowing that Zuba-Central is quietly on the job all year round. In the summer, the heat pump transfers heat from the indoors to the outdoors so you can keep your cool, even on the hottest days. In the winter, the system works in reverse, along with the patent-pending H2i technology, to provide heating all the way down to -30ºC efficiently and beyond.

Even when Zuba-Central is not hard at work optimally heating your home, it is always on the job. And ready to start at a moment’s notice. With Zuba-Central’s H2i technology, you can count on quick start-up times. Plus, the unique defrost mechanism provides an extended period of continuous heating between the defrost time, and minimizes the defrost time required, proving yet again that Zuba-Central is one of the most efficient systems on the market.

  Powerful Savings !

powerful_savings_banner

The savings are easy to see and even easier to realize with Zuba-Central. A heating and cooling system's performance can be simply represented by its Coefficient of Performance (COP). COP is a standardized measurement of how much energy you get from every unit of fuel input. The following chart shows a comparison of COP between gas furnaces, electric resistance heaters, and Zuba-Central:

How much am I really saving ?

Here's an example comparison of annual heating costs for a typical 2,500 sq.ft. house in major cities across Canada.

powerful_savings_diagram

Estimated Annual Heating Costs (Savings) for a typical 2,500 sq. ft. house. In Vancouver, a 2,500 sq. ft. house with a gas furnace and a COP of 0.85 would spend approximately $1,633 in heating bills in one year. If this same house were equipped with a standard electric heater, one year of heating could cost you an enormous $2,571. Zuba-Central, on the other hand, would only cost about $778. Even though Zuba-Central also uses electricity, it is staggering how much more efficient it actually is. This means you would save $855, or 53%, a year on energy costs over a gas furnace, and $1,793, or 70%, over electric heaters. That's a potential savings of almost $18,000 in your pocket over 10 years.

What do all the numbers mean ?

powerful_savings_img

The three most common heating systems used across Canada are gas, oil, and electric.

Gas furnaces are one of the most common heating systems used in Canada, while oil furnaces are still used in many parts of the country. However, any system that operates with a COP lower than 1 is costing you more than it’s worth in lost energy. Having a number less than 1 simply means you are not getting as much energy out of your furnace as you are putting into it.

There are generally 3 types of gas furnaces: low-, mid- or high-efficiency. Older low-efficiency gas furnaces, which are no longer available for sale in Canada, have a COP of less than 0.75. Mid-efficiency gas furnaces have a COP ranging from 0.78 to 0.82. Even the most efficient high-efficiency gas furnaces can only achieve a COP range of 0.89 to 0.95. However, oil furnaces are generally much less efficient, with a COP ranging from 0.60 to 0.80.

In comparison, electric resistance furnaces or baseboard heaters are actually more efficient than traditional gas and oil furnaces, as they have a COP equal to 1. This means that 100% of the energy going into the system in the form of electricity is being converted into heat.

Now with Zuba-Central, you get what you pay for and more, with a COP ranging from 1.4 to 3.19. Zuba-Central is able to achieve these amazing COP ratings because it not only converts 100% of all electrical energy into heat, but it also absorbs outdoor heat energy – energy that is essentially free. Zuba-Central is a heat pump with two key components: the compressor and the refrigerant. The system absorbs heat energy from outside and transfers that energy indoors via refrigerant which is moved throughout the system by the high efficiency compressor. And the higher the outdoor temperatures rise, the more efficient the system becomes. Zuba-Central is simply a better and much more efficient way to heat and cool your home all year round.

  Tiny Footprint

space_saving_imgTiny Footprint, Massive improvement.

Slimmer than a backyard tile !

The Zuba-Central outdoor unit measures only 13" (33 cm) thick – which sits perfectly alongside your exterior wall and takes up a lot less real estate than a traditional A/C system. It is so compact that you can have it installed anywhere around your premises, without taking up your valuable patio space.

The indoor Air Handling Unit is smaller than a gas furnace, and fits right onto your existing ductwork. Everything is efficiently housed in a single unit.

  Super-Quiet Technology

quietly_performing_imgYes. It is running !

You may not even realize your Zuba-Central system is hard at work keeping temperatures steady and bringing you home comfort. Our advanced technology ensures super-quiet units that work vibration-free.

  Efficiently Green

Thinking Green Has Never Been So Efficient.

Now you can keep more money in your pocket while reducing your carbon footprint. The Zuba-Central system uses ozone-friendly R-410A refrigerant, which produces no CFCs or HCFCs, and has zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP). This is not only beneficial to the environment, but also translates into better overall performance and energy efficiency than traditional R-22 based systems.

Through the use of our VCSI Technology (Variable Compressor Speed Inverter), the Zuba-Central system is able to dynamically adjust heating and cooling capacities to match actual requirements of your home, which means you pay only for the required energy when you need it.

energystarZuba-Central meets Energy Star requirements with a SEER* of 15.0 in cooling mode, and an HSPF** of 9.4 in heating mode. Together with a high-efficiency ECM motor, you can be sure that you’re always getting the most from your utility bill and giving the most back to the environment.
